NEW LIFE THEMES

Our themes for the last few weeks have centered around new life whether that be in the form of animal chicks, insects, butterflies, or the risen Lord. Spring brings an excitement to all of our hearts and a bursting of energy in our spirits. Our classroom indeed is full of enthusiasm for all we have learned and continue to grow. Below is just a small snippet of our fun and laughter we'd like to share.

Mrs. Angela told us the Easter story with Resurrection eggs. Each egg had a symbol inside it of something to remind us of Jesus dying on the cross.

Chocolate pudding rabbits with sprinkles and of course we got to eat some.

We decorated hard boiled eggs with sequins and glitter.

During the week before Easter, we studied the rabbit and learned what he likes to eat, about his big listening ears, and his giant hopping feet.

Plastic eggs provided many opportunities for learning. Here they had to match the capitals and lower case letters.

Using all of our artistic abilities-cutting, gluing, and drawing.

A carrot relay.

Our Easter egg hunt was outdoors this year:)

The treasures from the Easter egg hunt.

The plastic insects can really fly with a little help from the guys waving the parachute.

Hexagon pattern blocks joined together neatly resemble a bee's honeycomb. They're pretty proud of their creation.

Putting our honeycombs together to make a huge one. WOW!!!!!

Busy as a bee!!!!!!!!!

What do you think? Did they like the taste of real honey?

Counting the dots on the ladybugs made the task easy for these guys.

Magnetic puzzles add a new dimension to the traditional ones.

Symmetrical butterflies match on both sides.

Acting out our subtraction problems. Four butterflies were there, three flew away, how many were left? Much more fun than just paper and pencil.

This was one way we learned about the stages of the butterfly. Each bead of our bracelet represented a different stage.

We made good use of all those hard boiled eggs (or least the shells) we didn't eat. We made mosaic butterflies with the colorful shells.

DINOSAUR & OCEAN FUN!!!!!!!!

In the past weeks, we have dug deeply into the earth for fossils, and swam to the bottom of the oceans, all the while learning much about dinosaurs and the oceans. It is hard to believe that spring break is here, but we got in the mood with our beach day activities.

Our discussions about the ocean had to include the favorite sinking and floating experiment. It didn't take long for the boys to discover what the item was made out of was important.

Sailing, sailing in the ocean blue

The special treat for beach day was gummy fish in blue jello. Yummy in my tummy.

Even looking at books is more fun on beach towels.

Verbal recognition of numbers and letters was the review for this day.

Look at me!!!!!!!!

A long white envelope painted grey with jagged teeth becoms the greatest shark ever.

Rainbow fish made from CD's.

Octopus down under

Water resist paintings

Much more than just 12 shark crackers. Mrs. Angela named a group like six groups of two and we had to make what she said. A little tricky, but worth it since we got to eat them in the end.

Now that we've completed all 26 letters of the alphabet, we can match the upper and lower case letters.

We never tire of indoor magnetic fishing.

Counting money is a skill we used in catching and paying for our fish.

Baking soda, vinegar and red food coloring are the ingredients for the perfect volcano and a captivating audience.

Building their own red volcano.

Digging for pasta letters(fossils) in the play dough

A stegasoras in the making.
