Lots of Love Activities

The themes of space, community helpers, and valentines all were super fun and involved with a lot of hands on activities.  We made valentines for those we love including Jesus and tried to send them to Him by way of balloons, but our love was so strong it weighted the balloons down.  So we cut the valentines off and sent the balloons to Him, anyway.  We're sure He got them and loved them.
There is no gravity on the moon so we put on our moon boots and bounced from one star to another naming letters.

The sensory table was filled with shiny moon rocks.
Decorating our rockets was the most fun.

During our space theme we made constellations with stars.
We made the world with dot markers and coffee filters.  Then we added a Bible verse to remind us who created the world.
We learned a lot about the post office.  Here the boys are using their writing skills to make letters and then dropping them in the mailbox.

As part of our community helper week we dressed up as who we would like to be when we grow up. Below are our choices.

  A teacher
 A doctor
 A number 1 dad
 A baseball player
 A hairdresser
 A football player
 A cowgirl
 Construction workers

 A postal worker
Balloon games during our Valentine party.

WINTER FUN

It seems since Christmas break, we have grown so much, not only taller, but smarter too.  This winter season we have learned about snow, ice, and the arctic animals.  We continue to realize just how special we are, especially to Jesus.
 Minds in motion room activities

No one's fingerprints are just like mine.
Our addresses are important, just like our families.
A friendship web.  You could only pass to another friend if you said something nice about them.

The second half of the year we are working on our last names.  We are tracing them with different colors.
On the theme Unique Me we talked about feelings.  These are our happy, scary, and afraid faces.  So much fun.

Each one of us was measured to see if we were as tall as the Emperor penguin, and guess what we all were.  It seems as we all grew over Christmas break.
White shredded paper makes terrific snow for the winter animals.

We discussed the footprints of various kinds of animals before we had our own homework paper to do.

 Taking a polar bear walk.
Stringing cereal to give to the birds.  One of my students said, "They've all gone south because no birds are eating mine.
He was putting the icebergs in sequence.
We added salt to the ice and the road salt for an extra boost to melt it faster.

These three girls weren't a bit afraid of the frozen hand :)
 Sensory table play
 Ice painting

A chunk of ice sprinkled with salt and then covered with water colors. Magnificent colors

These bottles were filled with beads that had letters written on them.
Children were given an ice cube in a baggie with an object in it.  The race was on to see who could get the object out first by melting the cube.  We tried holding it up to the light.
We tried the warmth of our hands.
We even tried blowing our warm breath into it.  All great ideas!!!!!!
Naming the sight words on our snowman sentence strip.
Crushing up the ice cubes (solids) before we added the liquid cherry stuff.
Eating our yummy snow cones we made.
