Although it was still hot outside, inside we talked about fall and the changing color of the leaves. Many of us are excited about Fall break approaching and our plans.  Maybe by the time we return to school after fall break, the leaves will be beautiful fall colors????

Gravity was demonstrated by a simple experiment of marbles going down the tubes not up, similar to the falling leaves.   

For good behavior, following directions, and showing good manners we are rewarded with a trip to the treasure box. 

 We needed lots of room in the minds in motion room to do our leaf dancing.

 This was a bean bag game. Throw the bean bag onto a leaf and name the letter or shape where it landed.

 Lots of leaves, acorns, nuts, and pine cones filled the sensory table.

She was using various items to make impressions in the new play dough. 

 Inside each box were numbers 0- 6 to put in order.

 Mrs. Angela brought in stacking leaf boxes to learn sequence. 

 If you could sequence them correctly, you received a smiley face.

 We discussed what the walnut looks like in its shell

 Puppet shows were popular this week both to perform and to be in the audience

 This birthday girl was matching lower case letters to their capitals.

God blessed us with beautiful weather this week for Trike-a-thon which was a wonderful family evening.  Thank you to all who participated.  Our class learned all about fire safety this week and the emergency number 9-1-1.

 You can't have fire safety week without a fire truck.

 Dialing 9-1-1 to tell what the emergency is and tell their addresses.

 We made a fire scene with puffy paint made out of shaving cream, glue, and orange paint.

 This was our science experiment about fire and air.  We can't wait to see what happens.

 The flame went out in 8 seconds, thus if fire gets no air, it cannot  breathe and stay alive.

This week we finished our unit on the senses and talked about weather.  We spent a lot of time discussing the seasons and which ones were our favorites.  Using real spaghetti for one of our crafts was really fun!! Check it out in our blog below.

 

 Look at these rays of sunshine.  Don't they make you happy?  They do me.  We learned the song Rise and Shine but probably a more appropriate song would have been You Are My Sunshine

We read the very funny book Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. 

 So to remember this book we used real spaghetti in our craft.

We used a lot of our senses to tell how it smelled, felt, looked and...

 Looks yummy enough to eat and some of us did.

 Some of the items on our sight table this week were binoculars, kaleidoscopes, magnifying glasses, and a feely box.

 Using our senses of touch and sight, we were blind folded so we wouldn't peek in the box to discover its content.

 Patterning is an important pre reading skill.

 Egg cartons are used for various activities at our school.  In this one, there is a number in the bottom of each section and the child has to drop in that many apples.

 Each student picked their favorite season and drew a picture describing why they liked it the best.
