Oh What Fun!!!!!!!!

The weeks before Christmas were spent talking about the true meaning of Christmas.  I really feel the children understood that we celebrate the birthday of Jesus.  We added cotton balls to Jesus' manger to make it soft by doing and saying nice things to our classmates.  We also had lots of fun making and decorating gifts for our parents. We look forward to seeing our friends and teachers in Jan.
Each child got to stir the gingerbread batter.
 Making Christmas chains.

Putting together a gingerbread puzzle.

He didn't get away in Mrs. Angela's oven.  He was soooo tasty.

Some of the kids came back for seconds and thirds of the gingerbread man.
We learned to sew or lace our own stockings.  Then we filled them with pictures of toys we cut from ads of what we wanted Santa to bring us.

The gears Mrs. Andrea brought in have become a favorite.

We discovered that a candy cane upside down is really a J.  We put red, green, and white beads on the J and then added it to  esus to spell Jesus.

The sensory table was filled with boxes, wrapping paper, and tape.   The children really enjoyed wrapping up toys from our room and surprising friends and myself with gifts.
We start everyday in the minds in motion room with a variety of  gross motor skills.
Boys planning their strategy for the next activity.
Reindeer training before the big night.
 Reindeer exercises

We decorated and stuffed our red bags with gifts for our dear parents.
Rudolphs made out of chocolate donuts, cherry candy, and pretzels.

We had individual birthday cakes (jumbo marshmallows) and candles to pretend to blow out for Jesus' birthday party.
Looking at all the soft cotton balls we gathered by doing nice things for Jesus.
Aren't we just the cutest kiddos ever in the night of our Christmas program?

Turkeys, Pilgrims, and Thanksgiving took center stage the last two weeks.  We thanked God for our many blessings like family, friends, and good food.  We had a Pilgrim and Native American celebration with lots of yummy fruit.  Thank you God for letting us be a part of this fun school.
Lots of turkey games. Turkey math and turkey "T" sounds.

This week it was a team effort to work these hard puzzles.

 A challenging game of memory.

Turkey tail feathers made out of comic strips.
We love playing with the dollhouse.
The pine cone was pretty easy to tell without looking, but the letters were a different story.

This graph was pretty clear-- pumpkin pie was the favorite Thanksgiving food.
This old time hot air popcorn machine brought many faces......

But the most fun was eating it!!!!!

FOSSILS, HERBIVORES, AND PALEONTOLOGISTS

Our dinosaur week was packed with hands on activities for everyone.  We learned many new words and are adjusting to being inside.
Working on our fine motor skills of tracing dotted lines.
 Assembling dinosaur puzzles.

We learned a new vocabulary word this week, paleontologist, or one who digs for fossils.
First, we had to open our dinosaur eggs.
Then it was dig, dig, dig to find the letters in the pla-doh.
We dropped sponges into water and discovered after several hours they turned into dinosaurs.
Tossing in some new Legos drew a big crowd this week.
Each child got to share some homework where they compared the size of their fist with one of their parents'. ( Size of the heart)
 Dinosaurs books are the best!!!!!!
Now that the weather has turned cooler, we are enjoying some fun indoors like DINO, DINO WHO STOLE YOUR BONE?
SIMON SAYS
 DINO HOKEY POKEY

Mrs. Angela and class watched a homemade volcano erupt.
Pushing macaroni into the play-doh to make an imprint.
